Pyrotechnics Industry
Hinigaran is widely known as the pyrotechnics capital of Negros Occidental. During traditional global occasions like the welcoming of the New Year, residents from different parts of Negros Occidental would flock to Hinigaran to buy pyrotechnics from small and big firecrackers to sparklers and fireworks that burst in the sky in a dazzling and explosive display of different colors.
Pyrotechnics productions in Hinigaran began during pre-ar days when residents were trying to make a decent way of living other than fishing. Although there were a few who discouraged the practice, the love affair between pyrotechnics and many of the residents of the town, as well as those from neighboring areas, continued to flourish, thus what started as a backyard business grew into what is now a major industry in Hinigaran.
Today, Hinigaran is a major supplier of fireworks displays to private businesses and organizations, as well as local government units and institutions. Annual fiestas, anniversaries, sales promotions, even birthdays, and many more, would celebrate their events with fireworks displays which they would get from the town of Hinigaran.
